Hello! I have no idea if I'm allowed to post this here (I've never posted here before now.) but this site has a sale going on on some Melissa & Doug plushies. As far as I know, it's only going on today. You get a 5 dollar credit for signing up to the site.
I would've posted this to plushtails but I already posted something of this nature there and didn't want to keep posting this kind of thing there.
Anyway, I saw a jumbo alligator plush at over 40% off.
OK, well my name is Heather. I've been a plushie all my life, and have pretty much always had a huge plush collection. Twice I had to give up a large assortment of them because of space limitations. (This wasn't my choice. I still live at home.) I've taken to creating my own. They're not very well-made, plus I don't stick to one pattern long enough to actually improve on anything. However, they're still a part of my collection and I love them dearly.
I'll post a pic of one of my most beloved plushies later today, if nobody minds or anything. He's from the Acme company, which is no longer in business. They were a company who would make a plush to any specifications you wanted, to a T. I got this one when I was six years old. Back then I was obsessed with rectangles, so he has rectangle-shaped eyes. Current Mood: calm
I've also got a pic of him in my LJ scrapbook, along with pictures of my other plushies.
Question for everyone: who is your most prized, cherished, beloved plushie?

The Adventures of Glyph
hey, all! I've never posted to this community before, but thought you might be interested in a photoessay documenting the adventures of a small plush dog.
Last September, my two dogs and I went backpacking in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, CA (it's a bit southeast of Yosemite in the Sierras). Our party contained one other member, a tiny plush African wild dog belonging to my girlfriend. I've never taken a plush into the wilderness, since I hate getting them dirty, but Glyph weathered it well and had fun. She was awfully nice to have along.( Glyph ascendsCollapse ) Current Mood: amused

Newish addition to the pack
I got this absolutely gorgeous red wolf plush a month ago, and I love it to death. Oddly enough, she is another rare female in the pack. Her name is Sequoia and she's an FAO Schwartz plush. She's a good cuddling size and has a great weight to her, which I love. Sooo beautiful, and red wolf plushies are very rare indeed, especially ones this nice.
Definitely a good buy. Oh and don't worry, those hang tags came right off after these photos were taken. ;)

YAY new plush!
This will be my first post to this particular forum.
It's been what seems like ages, but I purchased some new plush recently: A nice Aurora elephant (To replace my old elephant, who I lost when I got divorced back in 2001), An orca and a dolphin, both from Wild Republic (I've not owned any truly aquatic plush before, but they were really cute.), and two penguins (My new obsession!), one from Gund, and one from Aurora again.
I'm totally hooked on pengies now, and my new Aurora pengie is the cuddliest of all of them. She's from their "tushies" series, and is aptly name. Her butt is big, soft, and squishy. ^_^ A while back, I know A&A changed their name to Aurora, but I hadn't purchased any plush from them since they did that.
Good news is that they still are making nice, high quality plush that just scream to be cuddled. While Peggy's not perfect, she's a welcome addition to the bed. (I would have added just a little more stuffing, but she's fine the way she is. ( Pictures behind the cutCollapse ) Current Mood: complacent

Huge Bolt plushie from the Disney Store
I went to see Bolt last Friday with sabotlours
, and xeltifon
. OMG I loved it! Bolt is so adoreable, and I decided I really wanted a plushie of him. So, I headed over to the Disney Store on Saturday, and to my disappointment, there were absolutely NO Bolt plushies on display at all. I'm glad that I asked the clerk, though, because they had a few of the jumbo sized ones in the back of the store.
By Jumbo, I mean "Mattel Meeko" and "Giant Thumper" sized. The picture on the Disney Store web site does not do this guy justice, so I've posted a few of my own pics. He has relatively short-pile plush, but it's VERY soft, much like those micro-fleece "throw" blankies they've been making lately. I totally love the big floofy tail, and thick, soft chest fur as well. The face and eyes are absolutely heart-meltingly adorable. Oh, and he has really nice front and back paw pads.
As far as I'm concerned, Disney Giant Bolt ranks up in the same league as Giant Thumper and Mattel Meeko. If you're a fan of Bolt, you've got to have this plushie. Click on the thumbnails for higher resolution shots.

My newest work
Hi, I make plushies and I wanted to show you my newest creation, a male lion:More pics at FA!
The fur and the mane were originally solid-coloured. All markings and high-lights have been made with careful airbrushing.
Hope you like him.

I just remembered during a trip to the bookstore how much I LOVE The Velveteen Rabbit.
It is the ultimate plush lover's book. :] I have a nice version from Little Golden Books (they still make those? I didn't see any at the store) and I'm curious as to what all your favorite versions are. I think I want to collect versions of it by different artists over time, even though I really SHOULDN'T start another collection of anything. xD
Also, did you own this book as a kid, and do you think it contributed to your love of plush?
Personally for myself, I don't think the book alone was the catalyst, but it certainly helped steer me that direction.

My snow leopard plushie
Hello, I´m a plushie maker from Finland and I would like to introduce you to my newest plushie I finished today:More pics at FA!
This plushie is about 62 cm (24,5 inches) long and the tail is that long too so it´s a total of 124 cm (49 inches). He´s made of white fur fabric and colours are painted with an airbrush. I have made other plushies too so if you are interested in seeing them please see my gallery at FA
I do plushie commissions but they are closed at the moment. If you are interested in commissioning a plushie in the future please watch me in FA or DA and follow my journals!

If I packaged random stuffed animals I have into boxes and mailed them to people, would anyone here buy one?
I'll update with a price if there are any interested parties.
All of my plushies come from a smoke free house. I just need to lessen the amount I have so I can buy more :3
If it doesn't cost alot, I could also do a trade for some, like for art. If interested, link me your gallery and I'll investigate and see if I'm interested.

Hello, everyone. I'm having a big problem with my green-easter-bunny, her fur is turning yellowish-green, and is fustrating to see her like that. Every time when we finish our intimacy, I wash her stinky parts with mild soap and water, I then brush her fur, and let it dry. But I'm starting to think that cleaning her fur with soap, is not the best idea (Does anyone has cleaning methods for plushies? or a Cleaning product for plushies? they could advise). This has been the only plush toy, that I'm having problems with it's fur... Current Mood: optimistic

This post comes later than it should have, but there is still time to find some lapinery. The last few years, good bunny plush has been difficult to find. Even K-mart, which for years could be relied upon to have some lovely bunnies, switch to a rather hideous design that was poorly constructed from cheap materials. In fact, most large plush now seems to use that weird, cheap fur that I first noticed a few years ago and now seems to be everywhere. You know the kind I'm talking about.
Anyway, Findra and I did manage to find some nice bunnies. While they are made from the cheap fur, and are not very well constructed (mine needed emergency eye surgery a few days after I got her, but she's okay now), they are of a good size and pretty cute and cuddly. And inexpensive ($20). Where are these elusive large bunnies? Well, on a whim I walked into Walgreens of all places, and there they were. They had two varieties of large bunnies, one kind we didn't care for because we didn't like the face all that much, and the bunnies were very flat for some reason. The sitting up ones were cute though, about 36 inches from the toes to the top of the head. They mostly had pink ones, but I've seen blue and white ones as well. There were various medium-sized bunnies as well. You can look through some photos I took at http://coonycake.com/plush/
While not bunnies, we also came across these cute doggies at Target, over in the toy section. They were $30, and about 28 inches from nose to rear. There are pictures of it in that directory as well.
Anyone else manage to locate some noteworthy bunnies this year?

My Mate gave me some of the most adorable little plushies. Here they are in my car. I think they look so cute there on my dash board ^_^
